Since 1435 and 24 generations later, the Mazzei family has been producing notable wine at Castello di Fonterutoli in Tuscany. A blend of 90% Sangiovese and Merlot, aged for 12 months in oak, it has aromas of ripe red fruits and spices, with a hint of smokiness. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-balanced, with fresh acidity, soft tannins, and a long finish. This wine goes with grilled meats, pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, hard cheeses, roasted vegetables and mushrooms.
